With the domestic new energy vehicles overseas continued to enhance the heat, new energy vehicle exports have become an important force to pull China's auto exports. China Association of Automobile Manufacturers released data show that: from January to September this year, China's automobile exports 3.388 million units, up 60%. Among them, the new energy vehicle exports 825,000 units, an increase of 1.1 times. Behind this report card, inseparable from the new energy automobile industry chain of synergistic force, strain to overcome difficulties.

Meishan Port is located in the core area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, where gantry cranes stand, several floors high container yard stretches endlessly.

In the Meishan Port Area, there are thousands of cars waiting to be exported to the new energy vehicles special container yard. Workers are busy loading new energy vehicles into containers before shipping them overseas via container ships.

A standard 40-foot container can fit three new energy vehicles, while vehicles of larger size can only fit two. The narrow space allows workers to be careful to ensure that the tied and fixed vehicles in the container will not be bumps, shaking vehicles loose and shifting.

Since this year, the new energy vehicle export has shown explosive growth, the traditional ro-ro shipment mode of shipping routes and cabin space tension, can be said to be "a cabin is hard to find". In order to meet the needs of new energy vehicle manufacturers and agents, from the beginning of this year, Ningbo Customs set up a new energy vehicle special yard in CITIC Port, and launched a one-stop regulatory service model for new energy vehicle container export.

In the first three quarters of this year, Ningbo port exported more than 50,000 electric people-moving vehicles, amounting to 6.93 billion yuan, an increase of 46.6% and 68.2% respectively.

In Meishan Customs, the reporter learned that the enterprise through the "single window" paperless declaration in advance, the customs online audit, if there is no inspection instructions, the customs will be released in the first time, to further improve the new energy automobile export customs clearance speed.

Taicang Port in Jiangsu Province, 60 kilometers away from the mouth of the Yangtze River, is the first major port of foreign trade in Jiangsu. Terminal workers are doing their best to ensure that new energy vehicles can be shipped out in full.

A pulp ship with a deadweight of more than 60,000 tons originally had no cargo to match after unloading imported pulp. After the transformation of the cargo hold, it was transformed into a car carrier, and through the special frame for collapsible commercial vehicles, the exported passenger cars were stacked layer by layer in the cargo hold of the pulp ship, and a pulp ship was able to transport more than 1,500 cars.

Since the second half of 2022, China's vehicle exports continue to rise, but the automobile export maritime transportation capacity has encountered a "bottleneck". In order to crack the problem of insufficient capacity for exporting cars, Taicang Port cooperated with COSCO Shipping to design and develop a special frame for collapsible commercial vehicles.

This kind of frame can complete the loading and unloading operation in the container terminal, and can make full use of the cabin capacity in the cabin, and is convenient for recycling.

The growth of new energy vehicle exports, driven by the international automobile transportation ship "a cabin hard to find", shipping companies and car companies have to book the ship, but also brought fire to the shipbuilding industry. Due to the shortage of capacity, resulting in international automobile shipment prices rise.

It is understood that there are about 700 car carriers worldwide, and the number of Chinese shipowners operating, accounting for less than 10% of the total global capacity. Relative to the continuous blowout of the automobile export situation, it is obvious that the capacity is seriously insufficient. In order to make up for this "short board", many shipping companies and automobile manufacturing enterprises have to order ships.

September 12 this year, by the China Shipbuilding Group's Guangzhou Shipbuilding International and China Shipbuilding Trade to build the LNG dual-fuel car carriers signed the delivery of the ship. This "giant" total length of 200 meters, 38 meters wide, design speed of 19 knots, a total of 13 decks, can be loaded with about 7,000 cars, range up to 15,000 nautical miles.

At present, this enterprise holds 25 car carrier orders, shipbuilding orders have been scheduled to 2026.
